Steps to calories
How many calories your steps actually burn, and how far you walked. The answer depends on your weight and stride — so we ask for both. Runs in your browser; nothing is stored.
How this is calculated
Distance = steps × stride length. Stride is estimated from height (about 41.5% of height for men and 41.3% for women), the standard pedometer approximation.
Calories use the American College of Sports Medicine walking equation. On level ground it works out to about 0.5 kcal per kilogram of body weight per kilometre above what you'd burn resting — so a heavier person burns more for the same steps. We show the extra calories from walking, not your whole day's burn, which is why the number is lower than many fitness trackers report.
Your steps already count in Besly. It reads your steps from Apple Health and adjusts your daily calorie target by what you actually moved — no manual entry. Get Besly →
